Pretty much as the title says, does anyone (perhaps someone working in plastic production or with knowledge of chemistry) have experience or knowledge about melting down sprue? I mostly have GW sprues, and as far as I've gathered they use polystyrene, which becomes liquid at something like 210-240°C, but begins to flow already at 100°C.

The height and diameter of the cylinder are equal. The acetone will damage the plastic’s surface, softening it, smearing it, or even dissolving the plastic.

If you want to avoid the rigmarole of using the gooey stuff THEN you can use stretched sprue dipped in turps or solvent - until the surface is soft but leaving a solid core, not completely melted. . Exposure to acetone fumes becomes a problem if it happens often and is at very high levels.
